Dental and maxillofacial imaging refers to imaging of high-contrast structures related to the teeth and jaw bones. Visualisation of other structures (e.g. maxillary sinus temporomandibular joint facial skeleton) can be considered as dental and maxillofacial imaging if the primary indication for imaging relates to dentistry. Ear/nose/throat imaging is considered as a separate application although it often involves similar radiographic equipment.
