Conceptual person for whom the effective dose is defined. The effective dose is evaluated as follows: firstly sex-averaging of the equivalent doses to all the designated organs/tissues of the adult reference male and the adult reference female and then averaging the sex-averaged equivalent doses over all those organs/tissues by using the corresponding tissue weighting factors.

An idealised person for whom the equivalent doses to organs and tissues are calculated by averaging the corresponding organ doses in the Reference Male and Reference Female. The equivalent doses of Reference Person are used for the calculation of effective dose.
