Backscatter factor

The backscatter factor depends on the x-ray spectrum, the x-ray field size, and the thickness and composition of the patient or phantom. Typical values of backscatter factor in diagnostic and interventional radiology are in the range of 1.2–1.6. (ICRP Publication 117, 2010)
