Reference level
The value of dose used to drive the optimisation process in existing and emergency exposure situations. The value of a reference level will be selected within the bands recommended by the Commission according to the prevailing circumstances. This selection should consider the actual individual dose distribution, with the objective of identifying those exposures that warrant specific attention and should be reduced as low as reasonably achievable.
