Dicentric chromosome

A type of chromosomal aberration specifically induced by ionising radiation and used as a biomarker of exposure for the purpose of short-term retrospective dosimetry. The half-life of radiation-induced dicentric chromosomes in human peripheral blood lymphocytes is ca 1.5 years.
