Active (red) bone marrow

Bone marrow contains the cell systems for the formation of blood cells, starting from the pluripotent haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) to the mature blood cells. It undergoes constant renewal. (Adapted from ICRP Publication 131, 2015)
