Indicator displayed on digital radiography equipment (computed radiography or digital radiography) related to the image quality level and exposure of the image receptor. EI was manufacturer-specific until an international standardised EI was developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). Also called ‘Detector dose indicator (DDI)’.
