Since then, ionising radiation applications and technologies have evolved to become an important part of contemporary medicine, with hundreds of millions of people benefiting from [[Application_of_ionising_radiation_in_healthcare#Diagnostic_Radiology|diagnostic radiology]], [[Application_of_ionising_radiation_in_healthcare#Interventional_Procedures|interventional procedures]], [[Application_of_ionising_radiation_in_healthcare#Radiation_Therapy|radiation therapy]] and [[Application_of_ionising_radiation_in_healthcare#Nuclear_Medicine|nuclear medicine]] every year. The application of radiation in healthcare offers proven benefits to individuals and society.
