At the cellular level: an increase in cell survival as a function of time between dose fractions or during irradiation at low dose rates. At the tissue level: an increase in tissue equi-effective total dose with an increase in time interval between fractions and a decrease in dose per fraction, or with irradiation at low dose rates.
