Trapped particles

Particles trapped in the Earth's magnetic field as a result of the interaction of galactic cosmic radiation and solar cosmic radiation with the Earth´s magnetic field and the atmosphere. Mainly protons and electrons are involved (see also ‘Magnetosphere’). (ICRP Publication 123, 2013)
