Narrowing of the coronary arteries which supply oxygenated blood to the heart muscles. Symptoms depend on the degree of narrowing and on whether the narrowing is acute or progressed over a period of time. Typically, and depending on the degree of obstruction, symptoms occur as angina. Prolonged obstruction can lead to myocardial infarction. (Adapted from ICRP Publication 118, 2012)
