In the context of exposure to Radon and Radon progeny, the historical unit for potential alpha energy concentration, defined as any combination of the short-lived progeny of 222Rn or 220Rn in air that will result in the emission of exactly 1.30 × 108 MeV m–3 of potential alpha energy, which is approximately equal to 2.08 × 10–5 J m–3.

The historical unit for potential alpha energy concentration defined as any combination of the short-lived progeny of radon in 1 m3 of air that will result in the emission of 1.30 × 108 MeV m-3 of potential alpha energy which is approximately equal to 2.08 × 10-5 J m-3.

=== from [[ICRP Publication 115]], 2010 ===

Any combination of the short-lived progeny of radon in one litre of air that will result in the emission of 1.3 × 10^5 MeV of potential alpha energy. 1 WL = 2.08 × 10^-5 J/m3
