In the context of radiobiology, cell death is equated with any process that leads to the permanent loss of clonogenic capacity, often termed ‘loss of reproductive integrity’. Cell death can also refer to physical death through a variety of processes such as apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy, and sometimes, premature senescence and premature differentiation.
